PhilosophyIn a word: Balance

Ryan’s philosophy centers on balancing the needs of employers and employees to create fair, productive and legally compliant work environments. He believes that a proactive approach – through clear policies, proper training, and open communication – can prevent many disputes before they escalate.  His aim is to help employers navigate the complexities of employment law while ensuring employee rights are respected.

Accomplishments

Ryan’s interest in workplace law began in law school while serving as an editor for the Canadian Labour and Employment Law Journal. Ryan also achieved academic success in the same area where he earned the top grade in his fiduciary obligations course.

Ryan enjoys mentoring prospective and current law students as they navigate the challenges toward a legal career. He believes that mentorship is a valuable tool toward creating a more equitable and less daunting legal profession.

Backstory

As a child, Ryan was drawn to the Hollywood depictions of the responsibilities and tasks of a lawyer.  His initial interest pushed him to take legal focused courses during his undergraduate degree. Ryan quickly realized that the role of an advocate can be far more rewarding than any Hollywood depiction. Ryan is focused on using his passion for advocacy to assist and guide clients through a range of workplace matters.

An interesting tidbit

Ryan enjoys playing golf to relax and recharge. Whether it is practicing his swing or spending time on the course, golf gives him a balance between focus and relaxation – something that has complemented his legal journey.
