Intersectionality in Action: how an intersectional lens can help build an inclusive municipal workplace

There’s no “one size fits all” approach to inclusion. Creating an inclusive workplace requires treating employees as individuals and respecting their unique experiences, which arise from complex combinations of relationships and identities.
This session will explore the concepts of intersectionality and marginalization and how systems embedded in municipal workplaces can differently impact employees’ experiences of inclusion.
These aren’t esoteric concepts. They’re deeply practical. We will guide participants to examine workplace systems, structures, practices, policies and benefits through an intersectional lens, as a springboard for change that creates a truly inclusive workplace.
