Accomplishments

Laurie has a diverse background in healthcare that ranges from providing care to pediatric patients as a registered nurse, teaching and developing learning content for nurses, to managing a team of nurses and allied health professionals in an acute care setting.

Laurie’s expertise in investigations was developed as a regulatory investigator, then as a provincial nurse manager who developed and oversaw a death investigation triage system for the Office of the Chief Coroner. As the Director of Investigations for the medical regulator of the province, Laurie oversaw thousands of public complaint and Registrar investigations conducted by a team of 50 investigators.

Laurie has completed the Workplace Investigations Training and Certificate program through the HRPA and is a certified workplace investigator.

Backstory

As a nurse, and then an advanced practice nurse educator, Laurie found herself drawn to continuous quality improvement and accountability in the clinical setting. This led her to explore medical regulation, facility accreditation and clinical investigations.
