Lavinia is a compassionate humanitarian and is committed to ensuring that human rights are respected in the workplace.
Before joining Bernardi, Lavinia was a Human Rights and Equity Advisor to the Director at the Toronto Catholic District School Board. In that role, Lavinia established an independent and impartial human rights office, conducted human rights training for students and Board staff, established an internal human rights complaints process, oversaw internal workplace investigations and strengthened relationships between the Board and its equity seeking stakeholder groups.
Lavinia is an experienced litigator, engaging workplace trainer, and skilled workplace investigator.

Accomplishments
Lavinia has successfully represented clients at all levels of court in Ontario and Canada including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. Lavinia co-developed and launched an Anti-Racist Leadership course for the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario (CPCO). Lavinia is also a talented and engaging public speaker and has led over 100 equity and human rights training workshops.
Backstory
At 3, Lavinia’s favourite saying was, “but that’s NOT FAIR!” and by 5, Lavinia defiantly declared, “I’m going to be a lawyer when I grow up”! At 13, Lavinia found a huge Brampton yellow pages book and flipped through to the lawyers section. From there, she found all the lawyers in Brampton and called each one in hopes of securing her very first position. Although Lavinia was far too young to practice law, this brief hurdle only further strengthened her resolve to one day become a lawyer!
An interesting tidbit
Lavinia is a Youtuber and professionally trained actress. She has appeared on Suits, Bizarre Murders, and Untold Stories of the ER. Lavinia has also been featured in various commercials for companies like Citibank, Yoplait, and Altis Human Resources.
Lavinia loves salted caramel chocolate, Orange Theory Fitness, and everything Beyonce.
